THAILAND, April 20, 2003 - Course Director, Bjorn Tackmann and Lanta Diver 5 Star IDC Center wrote PADI history when they completed the first ever Instructor Development Course and Instructor Examination on the Island of Lanta.
Twelve candidates, representing England, Sweden, Denmark, Australia, Thailand, and the US, attended the inaugural program.
PADI Asia Pacific's IDC Coordinator, Colin Melrose, conducted the first IE on this tropical paradise island south of Phuket, Thailand.
For the fourth consecutive year, Bjorn's IDC Program receives the PADI Hallmark Award for "Outstanding Contribution to Instructor Development."
Our program is the only PADI IDC in the world to
receive this prestigious recognition four years in a row, 2001-2004.
The accomplishment helps confirm our mission in ensuring that our candidates
will always receive the highest level of professional advancement, the
latest and most updated information in PADI Instructor Development.
With the assistance of PADI Staff Instructor Candidate,
Mike Doyle, February 2003 IDC candidates got the opportunity to experience
a pool dive using double-tank and full-gear Tech equipment. The session,
combined with our Discover Rebreather pool dive, provided much fun and
knowledge to our IDC candidates; and also a glimpse into the future of
diving!
On November 6th, 2002, Bjorn introduced the new Emergency First Response (EFR) program to Phuket Island, Thailand. The Instructor Course is now an essential part of Bjorn's IDC, and is available during all future IDC curriculums.
As a valued member of the PADI team, we wanted to let you know about an exciting and innovative new CPR/first aid program, Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care, brought to you by Emergency First Response, Corp., in partnership with PADI.
As you know, PADI has enjoyed a long and successful relationship with EMP International, Inc., the parent corporation for Medic First Aid. However, the time has come to move forward. With Emergency First Response, Corp. PADI Instructors now have access to a program that was created to bring you additional flexibility in course content and application with international applicability and broad market base.
The new EFR program launched at DEMA, Las Vegas in late October 2002.
EFR replaces MFA. As of 30 July 2003, PADI will discontinue the sale and support of the PADI Medic First Aid program.
Following PADI's latest TecRec launch of the DSAT Gas Blender Instructor Course, it is now much easier to complete your Continuing Education that will enhance your OWSI marketability.
NITROX and Gas Blender go hand in hand to help fill the current needs by most dive centers to meet the demand of NITROX divers. In just 2 days following the passing of your Instructor Examination, Bjorn's Continuing Education program will have you ready to teach and certify NITROX divers and DSAT Gas Blenders.
And to make your continuing education even more valuable and convenient, we proudly introduce two IDCplus courses as part of our IDC curriculum:
includes the EANx Nitrox Diver course. The EANx Diver course is a prerequisite to become a Gas Blender and PADI EANx Nitrox Instructor. NITROX is currently PADI most popular specialty worldwide. The two required EANx Nitrox course dives take place as an integrated part of your IDC.
includes the DAN Oxygen Provider course. The DAN Oxygen First Aid for Scuba Diving Injuries (Provider) Course is a 4-hour entry-level course in recognizing diving injuries and administering oxygen first aid. The Provider course is a prerequisite to attend the DAN Instructor course.
So, choose the IDC+ course you value the most and add it to your IDC at no extra cost (materials & PIC not included).
Your IDC+ course starts one day prior to the IDC
and is free to all Bjorn's candidates.
Did you know that Dive Asia New Training Center is one of the most comprehensive facilities in all of Thailand? Opened only two years ago, the center has 5 air-conditioned classrooms, a 20m x 20m training pool designed specifically for Scuba diving, accommodation ranging from affordable guestrooms and apartments to stand alone bungalows at Kata Big Rock Resort, and an unbeatable view of the Andaman Sea. It is extremely convenient to stay at the Center while you are participating in one of our Go-Pro programs.
Your entire Instructor Development Course (and accommodation) takes place at Dive Asia, Phuket's first and only PADI 5 Star Career Development Center.
Dive Asia's Career Development Center is Phuket's leader in Instructor Development and is consistently recognized by PADI as the most chosen Instructor Development Center in Southeast Asia.
